Early Medieval cemetery with graves covered with stone slabs “Zamczysko wilderness”

The cemetery dated from the 12th century is located on a top of a small hillock, about 1 km away from an extensive settlement. The site, described for the first time at the beginning of the 19th century attracted writers and poets visiting the Forest, including H. Sienkiewicz and E. Orzeszkowa, who immortalised it in their works. Graves, equipped with small clay vessels and bronze ornaments, were covered by stone slabs.
