Appearance: grey-brown with a black cap and white cheeks. Very similar to marsh tit, but black bib is wider and longer, while matt black cap extends on to nape.
This small tit nests across Poland, though especially in smaller woods, mid-field areas with trees and city parks. Naturally-occurring tree-holes are mostly used, though holes are excavated occasionally. Nestboxes sometimes used. Diet includes seeds and insects, and bird-feeders sometimes visited. Our birds migrate further west for the winter, their place being taken by flocks incoming from the east.
